Angry Al to feature as part of online PTW event

An online event focusing on the issue of PTW rider safety will take place in March.

Organised by Road Safety GB, the event is titled ‘PTW Riders: improving safety and reducing collisions and casualties’.

The event will be aired free-to-all during March 2021, commencing Monday 8 March.

The programme will comprise a mix of pre-recorded video presentations, live discussion sessions and podcasts. To date, 13 contributors from academia, road safety and the PTW sector have already confirmed their participation.

This includes Debbie Huckle, vice chair of 2Wheels London and road safety officer at the London Borough of Brent.

Debbie will talk about 2WL’s #ridebetter campaign, which featured the popular ‘Angry Al’ character.

The campaign included eight videos designed to encourage riders to use the roads in a manner that gives them the best chance of staying safe and avoid being involved in a collision.

The films were shared on social media and cover areas that contribute towards collisions such as speed, observations, overtaking, junctions and road position.

They are all available to watch on the 2WL website.

A full programme for the online event will be released by mid-February, giving details of when the various presentations and sessions will be published.
